Account

What is the difference between my account and LINE ID? toggle
Your account includes your registered phone number, profile photo, and LINE ID. Deleting your account will also delete this registered information.

LINE IDs are used to identify individual accounts and must be set by users themselves.

To set an ID, tap Settings > Profile > User ID.
Note: Once your ID is set, it cannot be changed.

If you share your ID with other users, they can add you as a friend even if they don't know your phone number. If you don't want other users to be able to search for your ID, tap Settings > Friends > and uncheck Allow Others to Add.
Note: As stated in our Terms of Service, making your ID public on the internet for the purpose of meeting other people is not allowed. Please refrain from such activity.

Changing your phone number toggle
To change your phone number registered to LINE Lite: 
1. Tap Settings.
2. Tap Accounts.
3. Tap Phone Number.
4. Tap Change phone number.
5. Enter your phone number and tap Next.
6. Enter the verification code you received via text message and tap NEXT.

Note:
- The same phone number cannot be used to create multiple accounts.
- Please be aware that registering a phone number that was already registered to another account may make the old account inaccessible.

Deleting Your Account

Deleting your LINE account toggle
Deleting LINE Lite will not delete your account. You need to delete your account from the app settings.

To delete your account:
1. Tap Settings > Accounts > Delete My Account.
2. Read the warning and tap OK.

Deleting your LINE account will delete all of its data, including your purchased items, Coins, registered phone number, friends, groups, and chat history. Even if you reinstall LINE after deleting your account, your previous account data cannot be recovered or transferred.
Note: If you don't see Delete My Account, you can only delete your account from the LINE app.

I deleted LINE Lite but my account didn't disappear toggle
Deleting or uninstalling LINE Lite does not delete your LINE account.

To delete your account, reinstall LINE Lite on the same device and tap Settings > Accounts > Delete My Account.
Note: If you don't see Delete My Account, you can only delete your account from the LINE app.

Changing your email address toggle
To change your email address:
1. Tap Settings.
2. Tap Accounts.
3. Tap Email Account Registration.
4. Tap Change your registered email address.
5. Enter an email address and password, then tap OK.

If you can't register your email address and password, it's possible an extra space was included in the information you entered. Please make sure that your device did not automatically enter any extra spaces.
Note: If you don't see Email Account Registration, you can only change your email address from the LINE app.

3. Enter your new password, then tap OK.

Account Management

Setting a LINE ID toggle
To set a LINE ID: 
1. Tap Settings.
2. Tap Profile.
3. Tap User ID.
4. Enter an ID and tap Check.
5. On the message that says "This ID can be used," tap OK.
Note:
- Once you set an ID, it cannot be changed or deleted.
- If you don't see User ID, you can only set an ID from the LINE app.
- If you see a message saying "This ID is already in use" in step 4, it means that ID has been taken by another user and is unavailable. In this case, please register a different ID.
- As stated in our Terms of Service, making your ID public on the internet for the purpose of meeting other people is not allowed. Please refrain from such activity.

User IDs cannot be changed. Please take extra care when choosing your User ID.

Adding Friends

I don't want my device contacts to be automatically added as friends toggle
To prevent people from your contacts from being automatically added as friends, follow the steps below.
Note: Users who have already been added as friends will not be affected.

1. Tap Settings.
2. Tap Friends.
3. Uncheck Auto Add Friends.
Note: If you don't see Auto Add Friends, uncheck it from the LINE app.

I don't want to be added as a friend by people with my phone number toggle
To prevent people who have your phone number in their device contacts from automatically adding you as a friend, follow the steps below.
Note: This will not affect users that have already added you as a friend.

1. Tap Settings.
2. Tap Friends.
3. Uncheck Allow Others to Add.
Note: If you don't see Allow Others to Add, uncheck it from the LINE app.

Logging in/out

Using your LINE account with LINE Lite toggle
You can log in to LINE Lite with your regular LINE account using your email address and password or a QR code.

To log in with your email address:
1. Start LINE Lite and tap Log in.
2. Select Yes on the screen that asks "Are you already using LINE on a mobile phone?" and tap Next.
3. Select Yes, I would like to use this account on other devices, and tap Next.
4. Enter your email address and password registered on LINE and tap OK.

You can check your email address or change your password on LINE. For details, please see the following Help articles:

To log in with a QR code:
1. Start LINE Lite and tap Log in.
2. Select Yes on the screen that asks "Are you already using LINE on a mobile phone?" and tap Next.
3. Select Yes, I would like to use this account on other devices, and tap Next.
4. Tap Log in with QR code.
Note: The QR code validity period is two minutes, but it may expire earlier on some devices.
5. Use LINE to scan the QR code on LINE Lite and tap Log in.

I see a verification code when logging in to LINE Lite toggle
The first time you log in to LINE Lite on your device a verification code will appear. You need to enter this code in the LINE app to verify your identity.
Note: If you reinstall LINE Lite, you'll need to verify your identity again, even if you did so before on the same device.

Make sure you have the device you use LINE on with you, then follow the steps below to verify your identity.

1. Enter your email address and password or scan the QR code to log in to LINE Lite.
Note: A four or six-digit verification code will appear.
2. Start the LINE app and enter the verification code that appears on LINE Lite.

To log out from the LINE Lite app:
1. Tap Settings > Accounts.
2. Tap Log out.

To log out of LINE Lite from the LINE app:
1. Tap Settings > Account.
2. Tap Devices > Log out next to LINE Lite.
